It's the Cheesiest

Who wants cheese?

BEWARE: We have encountered several under-temper alloys recently. Three of the cases included FRAUDULENT test reports certifying the strength of the alloy as satisfactory.

As part of ALT's service, we check extrusions for dimensional acceptability and hardness. (Hardness is a rough correlation to strength.) This particular sample measured a two with a Webster gage. A two! This is only slightly better than most hard cheeses! Based on the alloy of the extrusion, it should have measured around 12. Based on the independent laboratory test report submitted with the sample, it should have measured around 16. This was the weakest "aluminum" extrusion we have ever encountered - by far!!!

Wait a minute. Did I say an independent test report certifying that that the extrusion was actually stronger than 6063-T5 alloy it was supposed to be accompanied the sample? Yes! Only one problem though, they forgot to test this extrusion. Funny how those old test certificates pulled out of a file don't always match the material for which they are submitted with!

The contractor, wisely, didn't even try to explain the actions of their extrusion supplier. They fired him and got another.
