In more than 20 years of service in the curtain wall industry, ALT has advanced to become a one-stop provider, the leading curtain wall consultant in Asia. It was founded in Taiwan in 1991 by Joe Theodore Khoury. Soon after, the company worked on a number of high-profile assignments like the Taichung Tower (Taiwan), Seocho Fashion Center (Korea), and Hong Kong Electric Company Headquarters (Hong Kong). Through the years, it has established partnerships with the world’s top architects and owners and has played a vital role in the development of curtain wall systems for various celebrated landmarks around the world.

In 1997, ALT expanded into the Philippine market. Noteworthy projects include the GT International Tower, RCBC Plaza, Rockwell Center, The Manansala, One McKinley, One Legazpi Park, and Pacific Plaza to name a few.

In 1998, ALT was awarded with the most prestigious project in the Far East—The Taipei 101. It was the tallest building in the world before it was overtaken in 2010 by the Burj Khalifa, another ALT project. Backing up ALT’s portfolio of hundred-storey projects are the Shanghai World Financial Center and International Commerce Centre.

Our expertise is borne from more than 2 decades of design and practical experience in façade consultancy. ALT adopts the proactive approach. We formulate viable solutions, addressing concerns and coordinating closely with clients even before the design evolves too far. The design team operates on state-of-the-art software for accurate results in drawings and reviews. Regular training and research keeps us abreast with the latest design trends, design engineering, and technical management of cladding and wall systems. At ALT, we bring together the best minds and hands that are well-versed in all aspects of the façade consultancy business.

Joe Theodore Khoury

Principal

He has been in the curtain wall industry for more than 30 years and his expertise covers many areas, from creating preliminary design proposals to managing the on-site erection of complete wall systems. He has worked on prestigious projects all over the world from the Midwest to the Far East, and from California to New York and Europe.

His most notable projects are the super tall towers in the world such as Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Shanghai World Financial Center in China, and Taipei Financial Center.

He is known by clients for turning design ideas and visions into reality through his technical mastery of the curtain wall processes. When he is on board, clients are confident that their curtain walls function for strength and weatherability without compromising aesthetics at a reasonable cost.

When at work, he balances the technicalities of engineering with the demands of aesthetics, ensures customer satisfaction and marshals the efforts of his team.

Joe earned a degree from the School of Architecture of the University of South Western Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was part of the Cupples design team that designed and engineered the façade of Hong Kong Shanghai Bank building in Hong Kong, his stint in Cupples made him expert in the façade design and implementation.


Desiree Catherine Manlapaz

General Manager (Manila)

Des completed her master’s degree in Business Administration under the Regis Program of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

She was one of the key people who set up the Manila office of ALT in 1999. As one of the pioneers of the company, she organized the operations and helped develop and form the core group of ALT which proved to be the company’s greatest asset over the years.

She significantly contributed to ALT’s business expansion by setting up branches in Hong Kong and Shanghai and gathering the most competent professionals. While she was spearheading the marketing department in 2009, she led the team in generating revenues and increasing the company’s share in the Philippine market. Steering the Manila office, Des ensures an ongoing improvement on customer satisfaction.


Luke Wang

Director, General Manager (Shanghai)

Luke has over 20 years experience on curtain wall industry, he has been designer, project manager and general manager for state-owned, private and foreign venture companies.

Currently, he manages and oversees the business operation of the Shanghai branch and does his rounds of marketing works by expanding Chinese client-base.

Luke is a licensed Civil Engineer, Registered Constructor and Project Management Professional. His extensive hands-on experience in design and engineering proved to be very worthwhile when he joined ALT.

Luke earned his Bachelor degree in Qingdao Technological University and Master degree of Structural Engineering in Tongji University.


Gary Sin

Regional Manager

Gary obtained an Engineering Diploma from the City and Guilds of London Institute. He also earned a Degree in Construction Management from the University of Westminster, London, and received a Higher National Diploma in Construction Management from South Bank University, London.

Before joining ALT, he had worked with a curtain wall contractor as a project coordinator in Asia and the USA, and has gained eight years of experience supervising projects on site.

Early on his career with ALT, he is responsible for shop drawing reviews, approvals, site inspections, coordination with clients, architects, curtain wall contractors and construction managers, and resolution of practical problems on site. Some of his notable projects are the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, One Central Macau and CATIC City in China.

Currently, he is the Regional Manager who overseas ALT Shenzhen office.


Ferdinand Tayao

Vice President of Philippine Projects

Ferdinand is a Civil Engineer and has been with ALT for over 10 years. He was initially the senior inspector and project consultant for Philippine projects. Over the years, he has managed to become the local expert on curtain walls, coordinating with architects, developers and contractors addressing their concerns on design and construction.

He has been responsible for the review of contractor submittals, preparation of project specifications and cost estimates, site inspections and observation of mock-up tests. His plant visits in Asia, Middle East and Europe has made him a credible specialist in identifying qualified fabricators and contractors in the industry.

To keep up with the emergence of green building and sustainable design technology in the Philippine construction arena, he initiated ALT to become a member of the Philippine Green Building Council’s Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) Program.

Some of his notable projects include the Discovery Primea, Belle Grande Casino, The Residences at Greenbelt, Ayala Land, Robinsons and Rockwell Land Projects and Stratford Residences which is to be the tallest tower in the Philippines after its completion by 2014.

As the current Vice President for all Philippine projects, he oversees all the phases involved in the process from conceptualization of design to completion of the project.


Rolando-Malabute
Rolando Malabute

Vice President – Special Projects

Rolando has over 17 years of experience in curtain wall design and engineering. His wide design experience covers various façade systems and cladding materials. He completed various types of projects such as commercial, Hotel, Office, Retail and Residential.

His previous notable projects are International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Shanghai World Financial Center in China and N1 Tokyo Tower in Japan.

Rolando is always focused on safety that is why many façade contractors and consultants find him meticulous on the structural integrity of the façade design.

Butch is a licensed Civil and Geodetic Engineer. He is a valuable resource of ALT design and engineering team who relies on his precision and accuracy.

Edwin Agustin

Vice President of Construction Administration

Edwin has more than 15 years experience in the façade construction. Being with ALT he has mastered the skills required on site and factory inspections, review and approval of tenders, materials and shop drawings and mock-up test witnessing.

Among his remarkable projects are the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, MGM City Center- Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Veer Towers in the USA, Landmark in London, UK and various prestigious projects in China, Singapore and Philippines.

Before joining ALT, he had worked with curtain wall contractors as chief quality administrator and his connections with several construction management companies gained for him an extensive knowledge in construction management.

Edwin has a BS degree in Civil Engineering from University of the Philippines.


Nancy-Marie-Somera
Nancy Marie Somera

Vice President – Design Department

Since joining ALT in 2002, Nancy Somera has provided façade design services for a variety of commercial, office and residential projects in China, Hong Kong, China, Europe and Singapore.

Among her notable projects are the Marina Bay Business Financial Centre in Singapore, Costanera Tower in Chile, and International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Being the Vice President for Design, she is deeply involved from the conceptualization of curtain wall system to the tender out to curtain wall contractors. She oversees the design, structural analyses, cost studies, technical specifications, and value engineering works.

Nancy is a licensed Civil Engineer a graduate from University of Santo Tomas; she is also NFRC Certified Simulator.


Kristine-Carlos
Kristine Mae Carlos

VP – Sales and Marketing

More fondly known as Tin in the office, she is responsible for overseeing the entire Sales and Marketing Department operations. She’s a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas with a Degree in Communication Arts. Tin joined ALT in 2006 and worked her way up. Through the years she has made significant contributions in improving client relations and expanding ALT’s network in the Philippines and throughout the ASEAN region.

Known for her resilience and dedication to her craft Tin has greatly accorded long lasting business partners for ALT. Tin has demonstrated commendable leadership in her stead and remains steadfast in ensuring business development for ALT is done to the optimum.

She is currently finishing her Master’s Degree in Marketing Communication at the De La Salle University in Manila and continues to lead the Sales and Marketing team in tapping new business whilst maintaining rewarding relationships with existing clients.


Ranel-Opamin-1
Ranel Opamin

Technical Director for Sales and Marketing

Ranel has been in the construction industry for more than 18 years. He has been a part of ALT for 10 years and counting, and he is considered one of ALT’s assets. Before joining ALT, Ranel worked in a multidisciplinary contractor company in the Philippine, wherein he spearheaded the design/ installation for several small and upscale commercial, residential and hotel establishments from Metro Manila down to Visaya’s Region, Philippines.

In his more than 18 years in the industry, he has acquired quite a number of formidable skills and has become an expert in the field of curtain wall design. He is very proficient in 3D presentations, and in the designing and detailing of curtain wall systems.

Some of his more notable and complex projects include the China Zhun – Z15 in Beijing (100 storey building), Centre 66 in China, the Empire Tower and the Bando’s Bay Business Mixed Use Development in UAE, and Park City K03 in Moscow.

He currently holds the Technical Director for Sales & Marketing position, marrying both the technical and commercial aspects of the company.


Tommy-Ma
Tommy Ma

Technical Director (Stationed in Shanghai)

Tommy is a civil Engineer and has been with ALT for more than 9 years. He is versatile in façade design and implementation and completed many landmark projects.

Joining ALT, he was a design supervisor at the onset, developing and designing curtain wall systems, reviewing structural calculations, and computing take-off estimates and specification writings. He has been involved in skyscraper projects such as Samsung Seocho Headquarter in Seoul Korea, the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, One Central Macau, Shanghai World Financial Center, Beijing Huaneng Headquarter, Eton Dalian Center, Wuhan Center in China, etc.

He is presently based in ALT Shanghai as Technical Director overseeing the majority of china projects. His team handles full service from design, tendering up to implementation phase.

Fluent in both the English and Chinese languages, Tommy is able to effortlessly supervise communication and coordination between ALT and foreign/local clients, architects and curtain wall contractors.
